Problem Statement

Consumer Products Co would like all machines to come with a 2D reader to inspect the presence of the 2D code and whether the right packaging is loaded into the machine. This is very critical, otherwise, the whole lot will be rejected.

Solution

To address the issue, we have provided the customer with a high resolution camera to inspect the presence of the 2D code as well as detect the model code of each packaging and right packaging loaded.

Customer’s Feedback

Cognex ID reader’s overall performance stability and the accuracy rate in reading 2D codes satisfied the customer’s requirements. The customer was able to efficiently eliminate defective packaging there by reducing overall reject rate.

Problem Statement

The customer faced quality issue with the printing of the production date on the packaging of cat food. Their whole container will be rejected if the printing of production date is of poor quality.

Solution

In order to address the quality control challenges, we provide them with the Cognex vision system that has OCR function to inspect the printing quality and also to read all the letters are correctly printed.

Customer’s Feedback

Cognex system overall performance stability and the accuracy rate in reading OCR satisfied the customer’s requirements.
The system can reduce the no. of claim from customer that cause by under-quality of the printing label. So the customer can reduce cost around 40,000 SGD a year.

Problem Statement

In packaging industry, the printing quality is one of the most important criteria. Before developed vision system to serve the industry, eyes visual inspection was used. This resulted in lots of problems due to the physical and mental fatigue experienced by workers leading to unstable checking result. There were cases where the shampoo plastic bottle was rejected and increased in production cost. The workers also take a longer time of 30s in the quality checking process.

Solution

We provided COGNEX Vision Solution to inspect the quality of the printing. Every single Japanese character are checked by the vision system. Our vision system could reject even the single dot is missing or incomplete. The inspection time has reduced from 30 seconds to 0.6 second.

After install our system, now the quality issue and customer’s reject are solved. The customer is satisfied with our vision system.

Problem Statement

Customer has a problem on filter positioning not installed properly. So, they need to inspect the gap between filter and media. Gap > 100mm is good part and gap < 100mm will be rejected.

Solution

Cognex 7000 Series Vision System is used to address the issue.

With our Vision Inspection System, it can reduce the cost of 2 operators and also do 100% real-time inspection without error.
Also increase productivity around 10 times, inspection time reduced from 10 seconds to 1 second.

Problem Statement

Refer to the work flow, the project is splitted into following sub-projects：

Solution

By using Epson Robot and Cognex Vision System. With precision pick and place by the Epson robot, plus accurate positioning and inspection of the Cognex vision system.

Result & Benefit

With the Epson robot, there is a reduction of the generation of bubbles and no leaking, resulting in uniform coating and speed is improved. Most importantly, the robot achieve efficiency and a higher inspection pass rate.

Problem Statement

Customer needs a realtime device management platform that enables them to track the machine activities on a timely basis.

Solution

With Mitsubishi Q Series and MES Interface module, together with Cognex Barcode Reader, it is updated with all machine status, order the recipe and quantity of their products real-time from SQL server to the machines etc.

Customer’s Feedback

Our MES system, can increase productivity around 22% due to reducing the time of production order from top management to each operating units, also can reduce waiting time to maintenance 4 times (120 minutes to 30 minutes).

The customer also get the production information in real-time.
